What I Have Learned

This has been a great class.  I have had a great time learning all about blogging.  Coming into this class, I had no idea what blogging was or the benefits to blogging. So when you ask, "what have you learned?"...I can tell you that I have learned the basics that were taught in this course.  I would like to learn more and would find it beneficial to have another learning team during the year to take this blogging idea one step farther.   I am the type of person that learns by doing but I am more comfortable having an experienced person there to answer my immediate questions.
I have found blogging to be easier to use than keeping up our district websites.  If I had access to blogging at school during the year, I see myself posting updates for parents.  Each year, I find myself taking lots of pictures and then doing nothing with them.  I would love to post them on a class blog for parents to view.

Preschool Exercise Video

Classroom Expectations

In preschool my expectations are for each child to become more independent in self help skill, learn and build social skills, and become exposed to preacademic skills such as letter recognition, shapes, colors, etc.  I expect all of my kids to play nicely with others and clean up their areas when done.
As far as expectations of parents, I expect for families to be supportive in their child's learning, get their child to school each day on time, and be willing to complete the 2 required homevisits each year.

All About Me

My name is Stacie Schuyler.  I currently teach preschool at Two Springs Elementary.  I recieved my undergrad degree in Elementary Ed and Special Ed from Iowa State University.  I then recieved my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College.  I began my career teaching special education at Miller Park El. in Omaha, NE.  I then moved to Bellevue and taught special education at Fort Crook El for 5 years. Next I taught second grade at Birchcrest for three years.  This year will be my 4th year teaching preschool.
I am not "techie" at all.  In fact, I struggle with learning new types of technology.  I think I am afraid of messing something up and then having to pay hundreds of dollars fixing the problem. I am a PC user.  Because I teach preschool, I use little technology. Mostly, I tend to use BoardMaker, the Bellevue Site, and other resource sites such as hubbardscupboards.org.
I am getting around to this class late because I was working on creating a wikki????  I was totally in the wrong area and stressing out.  I finally found a friend taking this class and got some help....told you I was not "techie"
